WE – TOGETHER touched 1000 students’ lives on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Dillard Elementary School.

Career City 2022 at Dillard Elementary: More than 70 businesses and organizations came together with over 160 Volunteers to make Career City 2022 a great success for the local Fort Lauderdale elementary schools we support. This year, we also invited North Fork Elementary 5th grade students to join in on the extra special Career City. Students from Boyd Anderson Nursing program, Dillard High Robotics Program- Sigmac@ts, and Parkway Middle School World Ensemble joined as participants, as did students from the University of Miami and the University of Mississippi. These college students helped illustrate that step by step, grade by grade, success happens when you apply yourself and stay dedicated to learning.

Many thanks to Congresswoman Shelia Cherflius McCormick, Dr. Valarie Wanza, Chief Officer (Office of School Performance & Accountability), Debra Hixon, and Daniel P. Foganholi School Board Members, Bobby Dubose – Former member of the Florida House of Representatives, Former Mayor of Broward County, Dale Holness, Past Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Romney Rogers and Zoie Saunders, and Chief Education Officer for the City of Fort Lauderdale for spending extra time with 172 5th grade students from both Dillard and North Fork elementary schools!

Without the continued support for the past nine years from our Fort Lauderdale business community, Ranger Good Works’ success would be unobtainable. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Another special thank you to the following participants and volunteers for giving their time, talent and treasure:

Teacher Appreciation 2022 - Ranger Good Works

Teacher Appreciation 2022

Teacher Appreciation Week at Dillard Elementary and North Fork Elementary Schools took place from May 2 – May 6, 2022.

Teachers at Dillard Elementary and North Fork Elementary Schools were shown they are very appreciated by our South Florida community. Our educators work tirelessly to restore the education deficit created by the pandemic.

Teachers’ jobs have been extra difficult this year, and we extend a huge THANK YOU to our teachers for sticking with it! We’re thankful to our administration teams for planning their teams’ exciting journeys through treats, small gifts and awards.

Read for the Record 2021 was a thrilling success, as we read Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon. It was Ranger Good Works’ first time back in the classroom to visit our students since the pandemic shutdown. Reading to children in school is always fulfilling. After we #readfortherecord, we created a colorful, 20-foot dragon with old scarves and danced around the classroom together. We then took our dragon for a walk out in the courtyard at Dillard Elementary for all to see. It was great fun! As a result of activities such as #readfortherecord, many students will find reading and literacy activities more enjoyable. Gifts of love last a lifetime, and the memories keep on giving.

Ranger Good Works

Career City 2018

Career City 2018 took place on Wednesday, May 23 2018.

At this event, students experienced firsthand what it felt like to take a walk through a safe and inviting city which had been created just for them for this special day. As they strolled through ‘Career City’, students learned about a wide variety of industries and engaged with professionals from our local businesses and organizations in a fun and inviting environment. After stepping out of Career City, they took the first steps on the roadmap to their future!

IMPORTANT FACTS

98% of Dillard Elementary students walk to school, are from single-parent homes and get their food intake while they are attending school. Most of the Dillard Elementary students have never traveled outside a five-mile radius of their neighborhood. Many of these students also never had the opportunity to walk into a real grocery store, an office supply store, a bank, a flower shop or even a restaurant. Dillard Elementary students are sweet, friendly and well behaved. The students have experienced a lack of exposure, so they want and need a chance to learn and grow.

With your help, we can fill Career City streets with an exciting group of industry professionals. This was the perfect opportunity to inspire the next generation of South Florida’s professionals.

Career City 2017 was Outstanding

Career City 2017 was Outstanding at Dillard Elementary!

73 companies and 219 volunteers and community partners showed up to teach students about their industry at Career City 2017.

Ranger Good Works, Dillard Elementary teachers, staff, students and I would like to personally give our attending companies and volunteers a ‘heartfelt thanks’ for the support they gave to Career City 2017 to help make it a HUGE success!

Our volunteers and participating companies shared their time and talent with our children, improving their lives by helping build their hopes and dreams for their future. They showed compassion, generosity, and were aware of the deep need to share their skills and knowledge with their students. This year’s Career City was our first “all grades inclusive” attempt at Career City, and it went just like it did last year. Outstanding!

To quote Martin Luther King, Jr.:   “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace.  A soul generated by love. “

Without our many Ft. Lauderdale companies and volunteers, Career City wouldn’t have the success it does.

Dillard Elementary School Welcomes the 2015-16 School Year – Miami Heat Style!

THE MIAMI HEAT WENT “BACK TO SCHOOL” AT DILLARD ELEMENTARY

Amar’e Stoudemire & HEAT Staff Distributed School Supplies & Gifts to Students

The Miami HEAT kicked off the 2015-16 school year in Broward County by welcoming back the students and teachers at Dillard Elementary School today. HEAT player Amar’e Stoudemire along with HEAT mascot, Burnie, and Uptown Dale hosted a pep rally at the school and distributed backpacks and other school supplies. Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, Florida State District 31 Senator, Christopher L. Smith, Vice Mayor of the City of Fort Lauderdale and District 3 Commissioner, Robert L. McKinzie, Florida State District 94, Representative Bobby B. Dubose as well as caring School Board Members and Victoria Ranger from Ranger Good Works were in attendance. The HEAT selected Dillard Elementary School because of its great academic accomplishments and the strong support it receives from the community and dedicated staff. Under the leadership of Principal Angela Brown, winner of the 2015 Broward County Public Schools Caliber Award for Principal of the Year, Dillard Elementary School has increased enrollment by 100% in three years to over 800 students in 2014-15. Dillard Elementary was also recently removed from the lowest 100 performing school list in the State of Florida, as academic growth was shown in all the areas of reading, math and science. The school has also created a variety of beneficial programs for their students, including a program giving students the opportunity to tour major universities and mentoring programs ensuring that students receive the skills needed for their future. *We look forward to another exciting school year at Dillard Elementary. Log in to the Portal to view some great photos of the fun. Visit our website to see ways you can help support the tremendous effort at Dillard Elementary School. www.rangergoodworks.org We at Ranger and the students thank you!

Ranger Good Works proudly sponsors an up and coming artist from Dillard Elementary School.   During the Community Reception and the official unveiling of a collaborative student mural project at FAT Village Art District a competition was held at the Fat Village Center for the Arts. One lucky child was awarded a scholarship for the summer art program. In an effort to aid in keeping children engaged in after school programs and foster creativity from them RGW has made a commitment to give scholarships.  To participate or donate to the summer arts scholarship program contact us.
